202. The Wind and The Willow
Acrylics on birch panel 40cm h x 30cm w
"The Wind and The Willow" was begun en plein air, painted as I sat under trees at Woodbridge, Tasmania, while clouds streamed up over the hills from the west. I continued working on it in my studio, a tin shed, and while I was inside a huge gale blew up and bounced a garden table up onto the roof right above where I was working, then over the shed and onto the ground on the other side. Frightening, and exciting. The roaring and whistling of the wind was the perfect soundtrack for this particular painting.
