216. A little slice of Heaven
Acrylics on canvas 92cm h x 92cm w
I love my neighbour’s garden; in his compact triangle under southern Tasmanian hills and
partially bordered by a stupendous woodpile, year after year we watch kilos and kilos of
raspberries appear and ranks of carrots, beetroot and such march steadily across his small, tidy,
ever changing beds. After our frosty winter tomato seedlings born in the greenhouse
will be shared about. Meeting the welcome and inevitable rolling past of the seasons with
tried and true systems and patterns in place, even in autumn when decay means the party is over,
my neighbour’s garden feels vibrant and loved.
