Gordon Library: as part of the "Art in the Library" program
In 2010 Kerry Thompson has leapt onto canvas again after venturing out from behind her alias as multi award-winning cartoonist, illustrator and author, “Kerry Millard”.
In 2009 she presented her first solo exhibition of paintings, at Gordon Library, under her nom de plume “Kerry Millard”. With work varying dramatically from one canvas to the next, her paintings were described as colourful, whimsical, full of life, full of energy, honest, fresh and thought-provoking,
In 2010 she stepped on stage again, this time under her non nom de plume name, with new works, new ideas, and a foray into new territory ranging from opalescent paint to teapots to Tasmania. Hauling 6 kilos of acrylics behind her in a small green suitcase she has tasted northern NSW and WA, she has driven, flown, walked and bounced on the back of a quad bike up onto a hilltop, into a haysheds, under a treehouses , befriended a suburban Western Australian Hills Hoist and been armed with pressure bandage in case of snake bite in order to make new discoveries and artworks. In her 2010 exhibition a new innovation, “Watch this space...” added “something completely different...”.
